In the exhibition ATELIERROTTA PRESENTERER (THE STUDIO RAT PRESENTS) we get two solo exhibitions in the same exhibition.
Malakias Liebmann and Vilde Rudjord shared the Risør municipality's artist grant 2023/2024. They worked side by side in the same studio in Kunstparken during the grant period. In the same way, they now share the Kunstparken's gallery. By seeing the exhibitions side by side under the same roof, we get to see two separate projects and artistic expressions unfold, and the contrast between the artistries is highlighted. Still, one has to ask, can two artistries remain unaffected by each other after a year in the same studio?
I utstillingen ATELIERROTTA PRESENTERER får vi to separatutstillinger i samme utstilling.
Malakias Liebmann og Vilde Rudjord delte Risør kommunes kunstnerstipend 2023/2024. De arbeidet side om side i samme atelier i Kunstparken i stipendperioden. På samme måte deler de nå Kunstparkens galleri. Ved å se utstillingene side om side under samme tak får vi se to separate prosjekter og kunstuttrykk utfolde seg, og kontrasten mellom kunstnerskapene fremheves. Allikevel, man må jo spørre seg, kan to kunstnerskap gå upåvirket av hverandre etter et år i samme atelier?

ATELIERROTTA PRESENTERER: Frogs and Plastic Diadem by Vilde Rudjord
In this exhibition we see oil paintings, plaster casts and readymades. Rudjord uses mythological motifs in an expressionist style, to circle around the experience and dissolution of identity and belonging. Rudjord invites us into a world where large oil paintings, plaster casts and dancing toy frogs tell a story where childish attraction to glitter and gold goes hand in hand with existential anxiety.
The works on display have been created before, during and after the scholarship period. The time at Kunstparken gave Rudjord space to reflect more deeply on the direction she wanted to take as an artist, painter and storyteller. One year after the scholarship period, we can join in and form our own conclusions about the connections between the observations the artist has materialized in the works.
ATELIERROTTA PRESENTERER: Frosker og plastdiadem av Vilde Rudjord
I denne utstillingen ser vi oljemalerier, gipsavstøpninger og readymades. Rudjord bruker mytologiske motiver i en ekspresjonistisk stil, til å sirkle rundt opplevelsen og oppløsningen av identitet og tilhørighet. Rudjord inviterer oss inn i en verden der store oljemalerier, gipsavstøpninger og dansende lekefrosker forteller en historie der barnslige dragning mot glitter og gull går hånd i hånd med eksistensiell angst.
Verkene som blir vist har blitt laget før, under og etter stipendperioden. Tiden på Kunstparken ga Rudjord rom til å reflektere dypere rundt hvilken retning hun ville gå videre som kunstner, maler og historieforteller. Ett år etter stipendperioden kan vi bli med og danne våre egne konklusjoner over sammenhenger mellom observasjonene kunstneren har materialisert i verkene.
ATELIERROTTA PRESENTS: Slife of Life by Malakias Liebmann
A series of linocuts about everyday life and its poetry. Moments, crystallized as a vivid image on the cornea and translated to the surface of the linocut. Some of the details disappear, as the surface area is reduced and simplified by the movements of the linocut knife. Malakias shows a series of linocuts, framed in the size of 52 x 42 cm, installed in the Gallery Room in a grid. Each linocut is associated with a story that is important for the communication of the works.
Along with the series, Liebmann also presents a hand-bound book in A5 format with silkscreen printing in an edition of 25 copies. The book contains reproductions of the works in the linocut series, and the accompanying stories. Liebmann takes everyday life and the experiences that one forgets to appreciate, in the stress and chaos of everyday life. It could be the boat dream, in which one forgets to lose oneself and is absorbed in one's own thoughts. Or when you vacuum the whole house, to postpone a job that needs to be done. The project started during the art scholarship and has been in development since. Now we get to see and hear the conclusion of the project, which is being shown in Galleri Kunstparken, where it all started.
Malakias Liebmann graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Trondheim, NTNU with a Bachelor's degree 2017-2020 and a Master's degree in Visual Arts 2020-2022. "At the academy I have worked with graphics and had a relational practice. During the pandemic I established a meeting place, a so-called "speakeasy", which functioned as my studio for the development of my master performance: Who was the seventh father, actually in the house? The work was included in the master exhibition Under the pink sun and the Art Biennale Metamorph.
ATELIERROTTA PRESENTERER: Skjært liv av Malakias Liebmann
En serie linosnitt om hverdagen og dens poesi. Øyeblikk, krystallisert som et livlig bilde på hornhinnen og oversatt til linoplatens overflate. Noen av detaljene forsvinner, slik flatens areal forminskes og forenkles av linoleumsknivens bevegelser. Malakias viser en serie linosnitt, innrammet i størrelsen 52x42cm, installert i Gallerirommet i et rutenett. Hvert linosnitt er tilknyttet en historie som er viktig for formidlingen av verkene.
Sammen med serien presenterer Liebmann også en håndbundet bok i A5 format med silketrykk i et opplag på 25 eksemplarer. Boken inneholder reproduksjoner av verkene i linosnittserien, og de tilhørende historiene. Liebmann tar utgangspunkt i hverdagen og de opplevelsene man glemmer å sette pris på, i hverdagens stress og kaos. Det kan være båtdrømmen, som man glemmer seg bort i og oppslukes av egne tanker. Eller når man støvsuger hele huset, for å utsette en jobb som må gjøres. Prosjektet startet under kunststipendiatet og har vært under utvikling siden. Nå får vi se og høre konklusjonen av prosjektet, som blir vist i Galleri Kunstparken, der hvor det hele startet.
Malakias Liebmann er utdannet fra Kunstakademiet i Trondheim, NTNU med Bachelor 2017-2020 og Master i visuell kunst 2020-2022. «På akademiet har jeg arbejdet med grafikken og haft en relationel praksis. Under pandemien etablerede jeg et mødested, såkaldt "speakeasy", som fungerte som mit atelier for udviklingen af min master performance: Hvem var den syvende far, faktisk i huset?
Værket var med i masterutstillingen Under the pink sun og Kunstbiennalen Metamorph.
